Schiffsaufgaben / Ship assignments:
Korsar / Raider
Ships with the Raider attribute are perfectly usable for raiding systems and enemy convois within the border area or even inside enemy territory. Such ships cannot be larger than any destroyer class (heavy destroyers are not meant here). The attribute Raider increases raid efficiency by 20%.
Patrouillenschiff / Patrolship
Ships with the patrol attribute cannot be larger than a heavy destroyer class. This attribute increases the efficiency of scanning on (border) patrol missions by 20% when the ship is inside home-territory (controlled by own race).
Assaultschiff / Assaultship
The assault ship is a medium-large ship class (cruiser or heavy cruiser), which is specially equipped for planetary assaults. An assault ship receives a defense bonus of 20% against planetary defense systems and orbital battery fire. Since its targeting system is designed also for ground targets, surplus damage on enemy ground troops amount to 20% compared to other ships. Additionally, friendly ground troops gain a fighting bonus of 20% when supported by an assault ship.
Nahkampfschiff / Dogfighter
The dogfighter is a fast and small ship class designed and optimized for hunting other small enemy space craft in close fight. This results in a 20% Hit- and Damagebonus against small vessels. Dogfighters will not be influenced by any small vessel tactics (like for example wulfpack formations, swarm attack) except for kamikaze/ram attack. The disadvantage of a dogfighter is a defense malus of 20% against medium and large ship types.
(Anti-)Nahkampf Zerstörer / Dogkiller
The dogkiller is a medium-sized ship class whose primary mission is to destroy small spacecrafts. This results in a 20% hit- and damage bonus against smaller vessels. A medium maneuvrability is sufficient for this task since the advantages of a dogkiller lie in the torpedo- and beamturrets which can fire in all directions. The disadvantage of a dogfighter is a defense malus of 20% against medium and large ship types.
Kommando-Schiff / Commandship
From a command ship all actions and strategic maneuvres during a battle are coordinated. They form the heart and the computing core of the fleet. In order for those ships not to be destroyed that easily by an enemy, they are equipped with particuliarly large shield arrays. Ships with command attribute increase hit quotas of all ships under their command resp. in their corresponding fleet unit. (This bonus is non-accumulating).
Flagg-Schiff / Flagship
A flagship coordinates the proceedings during a battle just like a command ship. Additionally it features the mightiest ship of the entire fleet. In order for those ships not to be destroyed that easily by an enemy, they are equipped with particuliarly large shield arrays. Ships with command attribute increase hit quotas of all ships under their command resp. in their corresponding fleet unit. (This bonus is accumulating with an optional command ship bonus if also available on the battlefield). Will the flagship however fall during a fight, then this has very bad effects on the further ongoing and outcome of the battle due to heavy morale and coordination losses.
Blockadeschiff / Blockadeship
Ships with the blockade attribute are particuliarly useful to bring down an enemy's working economy in a system and prevent any goods transport from and to that system. In combination with Raider-type vessels there is an additional advantage on raids when the blockade is successful. The following effects results in a system from such a successful blockade: +80% on raids; no income at that system; No resource or goods trading; morale malus of -2 for the population on that system.
Forschungsschiff / Sciencevessel
Ships with the sciencevessel attribute are particuliarly good at research and deepspace recon missions. The advantages of these ships lie in their excellent sensores and a high range (+1 scan-range and +1 range). Moreover, they create - depending on their current technology level and the scanned phenomenon - a certain amount of additional research points.
